How does dismissal work?

Ops and Finance

Pick Up Procedures

Regular Dismissal: The middle school dissmisses beginning at 4pm, the high school dismisses beginning at 4:15pm. All students should be picked up by 4:35pm.

Wednesday Early Dismissal: Kairos dismisses early every Wednesdsay afternoon to provide additional planning and professional development time for classroom teachers. The middle school dismisses early on Wednesdays at 2:33pm and the high school dismisses early at 2:48pm.

Picking Up Your Student During the Day: You must come into our front lobby, using the Jefferson Street entrance, to pick up your student during the school day. Please have your ID ready for us to verify. Please note: we need all staff available to ensure our afternoon dismissals are safe and orderly, therefore we do not allow early pick-ups during the last 30 mins of the school day. Please do not use an early pick up to avoid waiting in the dismissal line.

Dismissal Line

To enter our dismissal line, turn east off Jefferson Ave. onto Utah St., south onto Missouri Ave., and west onto Miami St. Kairos stations staff along the dismissal line, and students will walk the line until they find their car.

You must pick students up on the side of the street closest to Kairos. Crossing the street can be dangerous for children and other drivers. Kairos staff will not dismiss students across the street, including into the visitors lot across from our student entrance.

Late Pickup

At 4:30 p.m., Kairos sends all remaining students to an after care program. If you haven't paid for an after care program (e.g. Gene Slay Girls and Boys Club), then Kairos will remain with your child until you arrive. Kairos pays our staff over time to stay after scheduled hours.

Kairos covers one complimentary late pickup per student per year. If you are late twice, Kairos will pass the cost of staff overtime onto you as a fee. If you have not picked up your child by 6:00 p.m., Kairos will drop them off at a local police station for safe supervision until you arrive.
